Monologues

What IS a monologue anyways?

A monologue is a speech by one actor in a play, musical, or movie, or as part of a theatrical or broadcast program. It is usually 1-2 minutes or a paragraph long, and is not set to music or sung. We want to see how clear you can speak, how well you can take direction, and act it out! Make strong choices with who your character is and what they could be doing.

*Don't forget to do some research about your monologue/show after choosing it!

Here are some examples!

‘You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown’ (Lucy): “I intend to be a queen”

‘Footloose: The Musical’ (Ren): “We’ve both lost somebody.”

‘You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown’ (Charlie Brown)

‘Easy A’ (Olive): “Forgive me, father, for I have sinned”
