COMPETITIVE CLASSES
Our competitive dance program has an emphasis on the technical foundation of dance and teamwork, with training geared toward attending 2 to 3 competitive events in the spring. Students are expected to practice and there are class requirements before advancement can occur. Students in Levels 2-6 are expected to attend all competitive events. Level 1 is optionally competitive. Level 1 students choosing to not participate in competitions must notify the studio in writing by October 31.
All our competitive musical theatre and dance programs are part of our year end productions. For competitive classes, level placement is at the teacher’s discretion and will depend on technical skill level, experience, and work ethic. Please contact saskatoon@saskexpress.com for placement.
An attendance policy is in effect for our competitive program. Please see our Studio Info & FAQ page for more information.
Students registered in competition and exam classes with four (4) or more absences will be contacted by the studio director(s). These students may be removed from competition, or require additional lessons at the expense of the student/family.
We are supportive of our students’ other commitments; however, it is expected that class attendance is a priority. As such, reasons used for ‘excused absences’ will be at the discretion of the studio director(s) and instructors. Medical and family emergencies, in addition to absences due to illness or suspected illness, are exempt from this policy.
Students in Level 2-6 competition classes are expected to attend all 3 competitive events.
