We are located across the street from the west end of the beautiful Les Sherman park in the Cathedral area, conveniently located near Harbour Landing. We have a large facility with 2 entrances, multiple washroom facilities, and accessible parking.
Our studio is under the umbrella of the SaskExpress Theatre Company, which we share the building with! Throughout the year, you'll see many of the professional actors, dancers, singers, and choreographers that we're lucky to share a home with, as well as the professional Christmas show in December that takes place in our very own theatre.

CODE OF CONDUCT
SaskExpress Studio 2026-2027
Music. Theatre. Passion. Igniting the creative talents of young performers.
INTERPRETATION AND APPLICATION
- References to the “Studio” or “Studio Director(s)” are respectively deemed to include both the Regina and Saskatoon SaskExpress Studios and the Regina and Saskatoon Studio Directors, unless the context specifies otherwise.
- The provisions of this Code of Conduct apply to all students, parents/guardians, volunteers, the CEO, business manager, Studio Director(s), instructors, and employees of the SaskExpress Studios, unless otherwise stated.
REQUIRED STANDARDS OF CONDUCT
- All students, parents/guardians, volunteers, Studio Director(s), instructors, and employees will treat each other with respect. There is a zero-tolerance policy for harassment, racism, bullying, negative attitudes, and poor sportsmanship.
- Positive behaviour is expected during classes, choreography sessions, rehearsals, competitions, and other Studio events.
- Gossiping or derogatory comments, in class and on social media, will not be tolerated (see Social Media Policy below).
- When representing the SaskExpress Studio, positive, responsible, and professional behaviour is expected. Any verbal discussion or physical activity that could negatively impact the reputation of the Studio is not acceptable.
- When attending competitions or other events, the display of good sportsmanship toward competitors and other Studios is expected. Comments or concerns about another group are to be brought to the attention of the Studios Director(s) only.
- Applause is proper theatre etiquette to show support and enthusiasm. Students are expected to display gracious behaviour when accepting placements and awards at workshops and competitions.
- All Instructors are required to submit Criminal Record Checks along with Vulnerable Sector Checks at the beginning of every season (September). Failure to provide this submission will result in the instructor not being able to teach classes until such time as the submission has been made. Instructors will be reimbursed for the CRC, provided they submit the purchase receipt.
- Any volunteers who will have direct oversight of students will be required to submit a Criminal Record Check along with a Vulnerable Sector Check prior to the volunteer activities. SaskExpress considers providing a safe environment to our youth as paramount, therefore, the cost of obtaining the necessary checks shall be reimbursed by SaskExpress upon submission of a receipt.
- Failure by a student or by the student’s parent/guardian to abide by this code of conduct may result in discontinuation of the student’s enrolment in and involvement with the Studios.
BEHAVIOUR INCONSISTENT WITH CODE OF CONDUCT
General behaviour that breaches this code of conduct will be dealt with in the following manner:
- Initial Consultation: For matters involving students, parents/guardians, or Studios instructors, the Studios Director(s) will meet with the individuals involved. For other matters, the SaskExpress business manager, as appropriate, will conduct the initial consultation with the individuals involved. The problem will be defined on paper. Goals will be established and an approach for solving the problem will be determined.
- Second Consultation: If the initial plan for solving the problem fails, a second meeting will be held with the SaskExpress CEO. Another attempt to identify the problem and establish new problem-solving approaches will be discussed. Consequences will be determined, should the problem continue.
- Suspension or Discontinuation of Studio Enrolment or Involvement: If the previous processes have been executed and the problem persists, the student and/or parent/guardian may be suspended from the Studios indefinitely.
Please Note: The Studios Director(s) reserve the right to suspend children from the Studios who exhibit behaviour that is considered harmful to themselves or others at any time.
HARASSMENT
Saskatchewan Express Society Inc. supports and promotes the principle of the individual right to fairness, mutual respect and dignity. Our goal is to provide an environment that is not only free of harassment, but also supportive of the productivity, dignity, and self-esteem of every director, volunteer, and student by promoting tolerance, understanding, and respect.
Prevention Strategies
The following are guidelines for preventing harassment:
- Take responsibility for your own actions and behaviours by ensuring they are respectful.
- When in doubt, don’t say it and don’t do it. Ask if it is all right.
- If your behaviour is unwanted, stop the behaviour.
- Don’t assume that friendliness equals sexual interest.
- Don’t assume that lack of comment means people are not offended.
- If you see others engaging in offensive behaviour, suggest they cease the behaviour.
Definitions
“Harassment” means any objectionable conduct, comment, or display by a person that:
- Demeans or undermines any objectionable conduct, comment or display by a person that on the basis of race, creed, religion, colour, sex, sexual orientation, marital status, family status, disability, physical size or weight, age, nationality, ancestry, or place of origin;
- Constitutes a threat to the health and safety of an individual and has the effect of unreasonably interfering with an individual’s performance and/or creating a hostile (poisoned) environment.
The following steps are in place to resolve incidents of alleged harassment. This policy will be administered by management in the normal fashion. All complaints of harassment will be taken seriously. The rights of all concerned will be respected.
Complaint Procedures
A person who experiences harassment is encouraged to make it known to the offender that the behaviour is unwelcome, offensive, and contrary to this policy.
If confronting the harasser is not possible, or if after confronting the harasser, the harassment continues, the complainant should seek the advice of the Studio Director.
The complainant shall be informed of:
- The options for pursuing an informal resolution of her or his complaint;
- The right to make a formal written complaint under this policy when an informed resolution is inappropriate or not feasible;
- The confidentiality provisions of this policy;
- The right to be represented by a person of choice (including legal counsel) at any stage in the complaint process;
- The right to withdraw from any further action in connection with the complainant at any stage;
- Other avenues of recourse external to Saskatchewan Express Society Inc, which include:
- the right to file a complaint with the Human Rights Commission as per Chapter S-24.1 REG 1
- contacting the police to have them lay a formal charge under the Criminal Code of Canada
- the right to request the assistance of an occupational health officer to resolve a complaint as per OHS Reg 36
There are four possible outcomes to this initial meeting between the complainant and Studio Director:
- The complainant and Studio Director agree that the conduct does not constitute harassment;
- The complainant brings evidence of harassment and chooses not to pursue a complaint;
- The complainant brings evidence of harassment and chooses to pursue an informal resolution of the complaint;
- The complainant brings evidence of harassment and decides to make a formal written complaint.
If the complainant decides to make a formal written complaint after meeting with the Studio Director:
- The complainant should give her/his formal written complaint to the Studio Director detailing the nature of the complaint, including steps already taken to resolve it. The Studio Director will inform the Artistic Director/C.E.O, and together they will notify the alleged harasser of the complaint, provide the alleged harasser with information concerning the circumstances of the complaint, and undertake a confidential investigation. Following the conclusion of the investigation, the complainant and the alleged harasser will be informed of the results. Where harassment has been deemed to be substantiated, appropriate corrective action will be taken to resolve the complaint, which may include barring the harasser from the Studio. Where harassment has not been substantiated, no action will be taken against the person who has made a complaint in good faith.
- It is hoped that any complaints of harassment can be handled internally by using the above steps, but if the complainant is not satisfied with the decision, her/his remaining course of action is to pursue recourse using mechanisms external to Saskatchewan Express Society Inc.
Examples of behaviour which may result in allegations of harassment are:
- verbal abuse or threats
- unwelcome jokes, innuendos, or taunting about a person’s body
- unwelcome display of sexually offensive material
- offensive gestures or facial expressions, humiliating, insulting, or intimidating behaviour associated with sexuality
- unnecessary physical contact such as patting or pinching
- unwelcome indirect or explicit invitations to engage in behaviour of a sexual nature
- indecent exposure or sexual assault
- any behaviour or comments of a sexually oriented nature that a reasonable person would understand as unwelcome or offensive
- discriminatory actions towards a student, instructor, or volunteer because the student, instructor, or volunteer has refused a sexual proposition
The above list is not intended to be exhaustive.
SOCIAL MEDIA POLICY
This social media policy for SaskExpress is designed to align with our existing Code of Conduct and Studio philosophy, focusing on maintaining a respectful and inclusive environment for performers, staff, and families.
1. Core Principles
All social media activity related to SaskExpress should reflect the organization’s mandate of self-confidence, ambition, and teamwork.
- Respect & Positivity: There is a zero-tolerance policy for racism, bullying, or negative behaviour.
- Reputational Integrity: Any comment that could negatively affect the reputation of SaskExpress is strictly prohibited.
- Professionalism: When representing the Studio online, behaviour must be positive, responsible, and professional.
2. Guidelines for Students, Families and Performers
- No Gossip: Gossiping or making derogatory comments about instructors, students, performers or other studios on social media will not be tolerated.
- Supportive Community: Use social media to encourage fellow performers. Proper "theatre etiquette" (like applause in person) should translate to supportive interactions online.
- Conflict Resolution: Concerns regarding other groups or studio matters should be brought directly to the Studio Director or Senior Management rather than being aired on social media.
- Classroom Privacy: Per the Class Etiquette Policy, cell phones are not to be used during class. Recording or posting videos of rehearsals without instructor permission is prohibited.
3. Guidelines for Staff & Instructors
- Role Models: Instructors must embody Studio values and act as positive role models at all times.
- Confidentiality: Do not share sensitive Studio information, such as student records or internal brainstorming sessions, on personal accounts.
- Media Releases: Ensure that any photos or videos posted of students have a valid Media Release Form on file, especially for performers under 18.
- Transparency: If discussing SaskExpress-related work on personal profiles, clearly state your connection to the organization.
4. Security & Privacy
- Privacy Settings: Use strict privacy settings on personal accounts to maintain boundaries between professional and personal life.
- Content Permanence: Remember that anything published online remains there forever, even if deleted.
5. Consequences of Breach
Failure to adhere to these guidelines may result in:
- Removal of Content: Inappropriate posts on official SaskExpress channels will be deleted.
- Disciplinary Action: For students, violations may result in the discontinuation of enrollment. For staff, it may lead to disciplinary measures in accordance with employment agreements.
2025-2026 Studio Attire
Attire & Hair (Regular classes)
Ballet, Tap, Jazz:
- Attire: Dance leotard (any colour), Tights (Any colour)
- Hair: Hair MUST be in a low bun.
Musical Theatre, Hip Hop:
- Attire: Fitted clothing that allows for easy movement should be worn for additional classes. NO jeans or PJs.
- Hair: Hair MUST be in a low ponytail or bun, or braids.
Acro:
- Attire: Dance leotard, sports bra & bike shorts, Footless Tights
- Hair: Hair MUST be in a low ponytail or bun, or braids.
Male-identifying & Non-Binary:
- Attire: Slim-fitting t-shirt and knee-length shorts are acceptable for male-identifying individuals but should be fitted. NO jeans or PJs.
- Hair: neatly out of face
**No fitness/Apple/smart watches or phones on in class - unless for medical reasons**

2023-2024 Studio Policies and Procedures
STUDIO MANDATE
The SaskExpress Studio provides an inclusive, welcoming, and family-friendly environment for students of all ages and levels of experience. We believe that training in the performing arts encourages self-confidence, ambition, teamwork, creativity, and resilience. We are highly invested in the growth of each of our students, and we feel fortunate to have the opportunity to be a part of their development as both young individuals and performers.
OBJECTIVE:
Our classes are designed so that students will learn dance, voice, acting and musical theatre skills in a safe space that provides encouragement and inspiration for healthy, positive growth and development.
PHILOSOPHY:
We believe:
Every student should be treated with respect and encouragement.
Every student has unique talents and will benefit from creative learning strategies.
The performing arts are a platform that we can use to help students develop confidence and authenticity.
Instructors should embody values that enable them to be excellent role models for our students.
STUDIO COMMUNICATION PROCEDURES
All registered families and dancers are required to read and abide by the Studio Policies.
Studio communication is facilitated largely by email. Please ensure we have your correct email address, and that you check this contact frequently for studio updates and schedules. Pertinent information will also be posted on the studio bulletin board. Information is also on Facebook and Instagram. Please contact the main office if you’d like hard copies of any information.
Additional short-form communication and reminders will be sent out via text message, and posted on our parent Facebook page. More information regarding the parent Facebook page will be available at the start of the season. The link to the facebook page can be found here.
General inquiries and attendance notices should be sent to studio@saskexpress.com. All other concerns and inquiries are to be directed to the studio director(s). Louise's email is louise@saskexpress.com
The studio director(s) are available for virtual meetings, scheduled by email. Please contact louise@saskexpress.com to arrange a meeting with the studio director(s).
Student class placement is determined by the studio director(s) and instructors with the best interests of each student in mind. Any questions pertaining to this matter are to be discussed with the studio director(s).
REIMBURSEMENT AND REFUND POLICY
The registration administration fee is non-refundable. Costume deposits and picture fees are non-refundable after November 15; competition and exam entry fees are non-refundable.
Class cancellation:
Parents/guardians shall provide a minimum of one month’s written notice to cancel monthly payments. Verbal notice will NOT be accepted, we must have a record of the withdrawal from the class in email format. Keep in mind, if parents decide that they would like to pull their child from the month of June, their child will NOT be in the recital. Families that do not provide one month’s notice will not be refunded or reimbursed for that month.

ATTENDANCE POLICY
All students are expected to attend class regularly. Attendance is recorded at every class and monitored throughout the year. If you are sick, do not attend class or any other studio events.
We request you contact the studio by emailing studio@saskexpress.com with as much advance notice as possible if your dancer is unable to attend class.
Students registered in competition and exam classes with four (4) or more unexcused absences will be contacted by the studio director(s). These students may be removed from the class, or require additional lessons at the expense of the student/family.
We are supportive of our students’ other commitments; however, it is expected that class attendance is a priority. As such, reasons used for ‘excused absences’ will be at the discretion of the studio director(s) and instructors. Medical and family emergencies, in addition to absences due to illness or suspected illness, are exempt from this policy.
STUDIO ETIQUETTE POLICY
Students and parents/guardians are expected to show respect to the studio director(s), instructors, assistants, and staff at all times. Please respect the studio property, building, and belongings.
Parents are NOT to interrupt instructors to discuss studio matters. Parents are to direct questions, concerns and inquiries to the studio director(s) and receptionists.
Please remove all outdoor footwear at the front doors, place shoes on the shoe rack, and utilize hallway hooks for hanging jackets and bags.
SaskExpress is NOT responsible for lost, stolen, or misplaced items. We recommend all valuables be left at home.
Food is to be consumed in designated eating areas only. All studio members are expected to clean up after themselves.
For safety reasons, running in the hallway is not permitted.
All students are expected to refer to the Studio Important Dates document for mandatory studio events, and attend and participate in studio activities and performances throughout the year. All studio dates are tentative and subject to change.
CLASS ATTIRE POLICY
Appropriate dance shoes and attire is expected from all students. Hair should be pulled neatly off the face or tied up in a ponytail for all classes, and styled in a bun for ballet. Please reference the Studio Attire Requirements document for more information. Jewelry (with the exception of small earrings), gum, and outdoor shoes are not permitted in the dance studios.
Studio directors and instructors reserve the right to remove dancers from class for inappropriate dance attire.
CLASS ETIQUETTE POLICY
NO cell phone policy
Cell phones are NOT to be used during class. Cell phones are permitted in the studio when they are stored inside students’ bags with the ringer turned off.
The rule above applies to smart watches and other smart devices, excluding those who need one for a health related reason, which needs to be provided to the studio director.
Students are not to check cell phones during water breaks or between back to back scheduled classes.
Excessive talking during class is not acceptable. Students are expected to treat instructors and classmates with respect at all times. Students are expected to listen closely when an instructor is correcting another student so that they may also learn from the correction.
Drinks with a screw-on or sealing lid may be brought into the dance studios. Please no cans, juice boxes, etc.
PARKING POLICY
Parking at the front of the building is for staff and instructors, and is clearly marked. Please do not park or wait in these spots for pick-up. Student and parent/guardian parking is available on the east and south sides of the parking lot. We also have many street parking spaces available.
Please do not leave valuables in your vehicle.
