Director of Dance Development / Instructor - Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Exams

Pat Gabel-Yablonski (Mrs. Y.)  is an accomplished Dancer, Teacher, Choreographer and adjudicator well known in her dance community. With over 40 years of experience teaching and choreographing, her love and passion for the fine art of dance and commitment of sharing this knowledge with her students is her inspiration. Pats teaching and dance education style and innovative choreography has led her students and herself to many award winning results at local competitions in recent years, Pat has devoted her time to attending workshops and seminars and considerable online study to further develop the creative and developmental process and stay current in the ever changing world of dance. Many of her students have gone on to become accomplished teachers and performers in the industry. Pat has obtained certification and accreditation in all areas of dance and music in order to be a diverse and knowledgeable teacher. Recently she has been studying mental skills awareness and certification to compliment her dance classes.

She was born and raised in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan where she studied dance under Doris Sitter.  She also participated in piano, Ukrainian dancing, gymnastics, baton twirling and school sports. After graduation she moved to Toronto to attend the Canadian College of Dance at Ryerson.  She graduated with a diploma in Theatre: Dance Teaching.  She then stayed in Ontario and studied Early Childhood Education while teaching fulltime dance and nursery school. After 5 years, she then decided to return to Saskatchewan and has taught for various commercial, private and non-profit dance organizations as well as being the Artistic Director and owner of her own studio for many years. Pat also presently serves on the Executive Board of Directors for CDTA, SK Branch as Secretary. For many years she has been involved in the dance industry as well as recently being a mentor for the RAD’s CBTS program. She is also on the new board of directors for DSI.

She has completed the teaching exam in RAD (Royal Academy of Dance) ballet, receiving a diploma that includes history of dance and anatomy.  Also she has taken CDTA (Canadian Dance Teacher's Association - SK Branch) Tap and Jazz teaching exams, CDTA Ballet, Modern and Acro Associates, ADAPT (Associated Dance Arts for Professional Teachers), qualification and certification for teaching tap and jazz, Acrobatic Arts Preschool, Modules 1 , 2 & 3,  Alixa Flexibility Modules 1 , 2, 3 and AcroDance Preschool,  Progressing Ballet Technique, and is currently working on the Healthy Dancer Practise Certificate.  Additional complimentary programs include Stott Pilates Instructor Qualification, MYC (Music for Young Children) and Kindermusik Teacher's programs. She has performed, taught, choreographed and adjudicated all styles including Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern, Contemporary, Lyrical, Hip hop, Musical Theatre, Song and Dance, Acro, Baton and Ethnic or National Dance.

Pat and her husband Ed, live and operate their farm North of Clair.  She presently teaches dance in Wadena and in Saskatoon for SaskExpress. Pat is a member of and is a qualified dance adjudicator with the Professional Adjudicators Alliance and looks forward to sharing her knowledge, experience, passion and expertise at every event.  

Mrs. Y.  is very excited to become the Director of Dance Development with SaskExpress in Saskatoon.  She looks forward to sharing this lifelong passion with new and returning dancers and with the staff.
