ERIN SCHWALM
Instructor - CDTA Tap/Jazz Exams
Erin began her dance training in 1979 at the age of 4 and has been in the dance studio ever since! She grew up taking classes in many styles including Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Lyrical, Hip Hop, Modern and Musical Theatre. She was a motivated competitive dancer with aspirations of teaching and choreographing as well as owning her own dance studio someday. Throughout her dance training, she received her certificates for Junior Level II ADAPT Tap and Jazz, Senior Grade RAD Ballet and Advanced CDTA Tap and Jazz. Erin was fortunate to learn from many teachers through the years in Regina and Moose Jaw as well as attending many workshops in Canada and the US to continue learning and feeling inspired.
Erin started as an assistant teacher at the age of 15 and knew she had a love and passion for working with students. This passion pushed her to complete her CDTA Licentiate teachers exams in Tap (1996) and Jazz (1998). After gaining independent teaching experience with various studios, she opened her own dance studio in the fall of 1998 which had always been her dream. She had a wonderful, successful decade of dance with her own studio, but in the spring of 2008 decided to close the business and concentrate solely on being a dance instructor and choreographer. Erin has been teaching for Dance Dimensions since 2008 as a CDTA Tap and Jazz exam instructor, as well as classes and choreography in Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Hip Hop and Contemporary.
Erin LOVES the creative side of dance…the music, the choreography and the process of creating memorable routines with her students. But first comes the technical training. She also loves to teach students technique and syllabus training through exams. Erin has been with the SaskExpress team since fall of 2022 and is looking forward to returning for another season to co-teach CDTA exams with her long-time friend and former student Lisa Vindevoghel!
