Easter Break Musical Theatre Camp

Step into the rhythm-packed world of our Easter Break Dance Camp! Get ready to groove, hop, and grow as performers with a new class theme everyday! Dividing performers into age groups for an immersive experience, each day unveils a unique theme. Whether you're here for one day or the whole week, get ready to unleash your inner star!

Themes:

  1. Monday, April 1: Dive into the viral sensation with "Explore TikTok"! From hilarious skits to catchy tunes, we'll master the art of acting, singing, and dancing, TikTok style! Register
  2. Tuesday, April 2: It's an "Indoor Camping Trip" like no other! Pitch tents, brave obstacle courses, and toast some marshmallows as we embark on an adventure filled with laughter and camaraderie. Register
  3. Wednesday, April 3: Rise and shine with "Swiftie Morning"! Channel your inner Miss Americana as we belt out TSwift hits, craft our own microphones, and strut our stuff on stage with moves fit for pop royalty. Register
  4. Thursday, April 4: Get ready to bust a move on "Hoppin' Hip Hop Day"! Learn slick moves, perfect your on-camera presence, and rock the ultimate hip hop attire for a photoshoot that screams swag. Register
  5. Friday, April 5: Let's dance! Dive into the world of movement with "Dancing is Fun!" Here, we'll dip our toes into jazz, ballet, hip hop, and musical theatre, discovering the joy of dance in all its forms. Register

 

Summer

TINY TOTS: 3-6

Tiny Tots

Our signature summer day camp, Tiny Tots, provides an exciting, unique, and imaginative introduction to dance and theatre for preschoolers ages 3-6. Introductory lessons in different styles of song and dance are combined with educational activities, imagination-based learning techniques, storytelling, and play, to provide children with an engaging introduction to the arts! With several themes to choose from, each Tiny Tots camp is designed to be playful and fun — find one (or a few!) that best suits your preschooler.

All camps will end with a celebratory showcase.

Who: Preschoolers, ages 3-6
Where: SaskExpress Musical Theatre Studio (2272 Pasqua Street)
Price: $250; payment charged on the first day of the program.

 

What styles of dance are taught during Tiny Tots?

Throughout the week, the Tiny Tots program will incorporate jazz, tap/rhythm, musical theatre, hip hop, ballet, and acro.

What other activities are offered through the Tiny Tots program?

Dance lessons are interspersed with arts and crafts, outdoor play, snack time, and educational activities. Each session's activities will be themed! Check below for this years themes.

What is the required attire for the camp?

  • Clothing: Bodysuit and tights, a fitted shirt and leggings, comfortable pants or shorts with a fitted t-shirt. Choose what your child is most comfortable in, regardless of gender.

  • Shoes: Jazz shoes (preferably slip on) or ballet slippers. Tap shoes are an asset, but are not required. 

  • Other: Children should also bring a water bottle, outdoor shoes, sunscreen, and mosquito spray each day. A daily snack is provided, but campers are welcome to pack supplementary snacks.

 

Pirate & Princess Dance Camp

When: July 8th - 11th | 9am - 12pm | Mon - Thu

What: Ahoy there, me hearty! If ye be lookin' fer a swashbucklin' good time for yer little ones, then look no further! We have a pirate-themed adventure in store for ye, complete with dance lessons that will have yer young buccaneers shiverin' their timbers in excitement.

Celebrate Cinderella Dance Camp

When: August 12th - 15th | 9am - 12pm | Mon - Thu

What: Imagine a world where dance lessons were interwoven with outdoor movements, arts and crafts, and all of it was themed around the magical world of Cinderella!

Swiftie Sensations: 6-13

Swiftie Sensations

Provides an exciting, unique, and imaginative introduction to dance and theatre with a Taylor Swift twist for ages 6-13. All camps will end with a celebratory showcase.

Age groups are as follows: 6-8 years, 9-10 years, and 11-13 years

VOCAL TRAINING INTENSIVE

 

Price: $75.00, charged the day of the program.

 

Who: Any performers ages 8-12. No experience required.


Where: SaskExpress Musical Theatre Studio (2272 Pasqua Street)

 

When: July 8th - 11th | 1pm - 4pm | Mon to Fri

 

What: Group and individual vocal training with Miss Elizabeth Bishop! Campers will work on vocal exersises and training and record the song they have been working on! 

 

Attire: Wear comfortable clothes and bring indoor shoes.

Food: Campers will be provided with a light snack, please pack an additional snack and water bottle.

MAKE A MUSICAL CAMP: 12-16

MAKE A MUSICAL CAMP

Designed for children between the ages of 7 and 12, our camp is tailored to provide an integrated introduction to performing.

 

Who: Ages 12-16

Where: SaskExpress Musical Theatre Studio (2272 Pasqua Street)

When: August 12th - 16th | 9am - 5pm | Mon - Fri

Price: $275; payment charged on the first day of the program

 

What will be taught?

Campers will decide on a storyline, music, and acting to create their own musical! They will be guided by our expeirenced instructors Miss Kaelyn Coulthard and Miss Elizabeth Bishop! They will perform their show for an audience and their family at the end of the week.

What is my child required to bring for the camp?

  • Rehearsal Clothing: Bodysuit and tights, a fitted shirt and leggings, comfortable pants or shorts with a fitted t-shirt. Choose what your camper is most comfortable in, regardless of gender.

  • Costumes: Campers may be asked to make or bring a costume from home!

  • Shoes: Jazz shoes (if owned) or socks

  • Meals: Light snack provided! Campers should also bring a water bottle, lunch, and snack. This is a NUT-FREE studio!

Mini Express & The Expressions Summer Intensive: 8-16

Mini & The Expressions Summer Intensive: Moana JR

 

Who: Ages 8-16, everyone who registers will be part of the show. After submitting your registration, you will receive a follow-up email with your audition time. All cast members will audition for cast placement; singing or dancing roles will be cast by the directors. Auditions are exciting, positive, and interactive — audition experience is a very valuable learning opportunity for aspiring performers and our course offers a low risk experience for first timers.

When: July 15th to August 3rd, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday.

Performances: Performance dates are TBD.

Where: SaskExpress Musical Theatre Studio (2272 Pasqua Street)

Price: $495 charged on the first day of rehearsal, plus a $50 costume deposit fee. Depending on role and specific costume, you will be refunded the difference of actual costume price.

Do I have to sing and dance? What if I just want to do one?

Performers can choose to audition as a Singer, Dancer, or both. All cast members will receive triple threat (singing, dancing, and acting) training and exposure throughout the program, but will be featured in the area(s) they excel in.

What do I have to do for my audition?

Singers will perform a song, and dancers will perform a dance routine. All cast members will prepare a provided monologue and attend a callback. Full audition details will be provided in your audition form that will be sent after your registration is submitted and the show is announced.

What should I wear to rehearsals?

All performers should wear comfortable clothing that allows for easy movement (no jeans). Hair should be styled off the face. Dancers should bring jazz shoes; alternative footwear may be discussed during costuming.

What should I bring to rehearsals?

Performers should bring a binder, pencil, water bottle, lunch, and fueling snacks to every rehearsal.
