SaskExpress Studio - Regina is excited to be hosting the 11th annual Stars of Tomorrow Dance Festival from April 22-26, 2020 at the Regina Performing Arts Centre (1077 Angus Street, Regina SK). Stars of Tomorrow began in 2009 and offers a unique, festival-style competition to unite dancers from the Saskatchewan dance community. With an emphasis on fun, sportsmanship, and excellence in dance, we strive to provide our competitors with opportunities to further their dance education by offering scholarships to local, national, and international workshops, alongside cash awards totalling up to  $5,000 in value.

Skill Levels

Beginner: Less than 2 years of training in discipline

Novice: 2-4 years of training in discipline

Intermediate5-7 years of training in discipline

Senior: 8+ years training in discipline

*For duets/trios and group entries, use average years of training in associated discipline.

Entry Requirements


All dances must have a name or title.
     Solos should include a dancer's first and last name (ie. Joe Smith)
     Duets/Trios should be entered with dancers' last names (ie. Smith/Smith)
     Groups and Productions are to be entered using a titlle (ie. Spiderman)

Entries must be submitted by dance studios, not by individuals.

The festival schedule will be released in early 2020.


Solos: 2.5 minutes; 3 minutes for Musical Theatre & Song and Dance
Duets/Trios3 minutes

Small Groups (4-9 dancers): 4 minutes
Large Groups (10+ dancers): 5 minutes

Production: Min. 8 minutes, max. 15 minutes (incluidng prop set up and take down time)

Entry Fees

DISCOUNT: Entries received by November 15, 2019 are eligible to receive a 5% discount on entry fees.

Solos: $32.50
Duets/Trios: $28/dancer
Groups: $25/dancer
Production: $25/dancer

Entries submitted after December 15, 2019 will be subject to a 10% late fee, which will be charged on the entry fee. Payment of all fees must be submitted no later than January 15, 2019.

Awards + Adjudications


Each entry will receive a mark and award standing. 

Super Star of Tomorrow: 95 and over
Silver: 80-87
Bronze: 79 and under

Groups - Awards for Outstanding Group, Most Promising Group, and Outstanding Choreography will be awarded in each session during onstage adjudication.
Solos/Duets/Trios - Awards for Outstanding, Most Promising, and Adjudicator's Choice will be awarded in each session during onstage adjudication.

A final awards celebration will be hosted at the end of the festival. Potential awards include plaques, trophies, cash, or scholarships.


Each category will be adjudicated by one judge. 

Personal one on one adjudications will be held on stage after each session and will provide dancers with the invaluable experience of instant feedback.

Regulations + General Information
  • Adjudicator decisions are final. Adjudicators are not to be approached by parents, dancers, or instructors.
  • Music is to be played by teachers, studio directors, or assistants only. A headphone jack will be availble backstage for use. No CD player will be available. 
  • Students are not permitted to compete against themselves in the same category.
  • Dancers unable to complete their performance will be allowed to re-dance their routine for adjudication only. If the re-dance is due to a technical issue, the dancer will remain eligible for awards.
  • Routines missing dancers will be announced prior to the performance. Subsitutitions are acceptable as long as the age and level of the entry is unaffected. No refunds will be provided for missing dancers.
  • It is MANDATORY that dancers are supervised backstage and in the dressing rooms all times to ensure safety and sportsmanlike behaviour. Failure to do so may result in disqualification from the festival.
  • Refreshments will be available to purchase from the canteen for both competitors and spectators.
  • Hotel rooms will be reserved and available for booking at discounted rates, under the SaskExpress name. More information on hotel rooms will be forwarded to you after we receive your registration.
