Regina Classes

Musical Theatre

All classes are once a week and 1 hour in length, combining instruction in basic dance and vocal technique. From September to December, recital classes work on open house material to be presented to parents at the studio in December. From January to June class time is spent working on recital material to be performed at the year-end recital. All students in the competitive class are also required to take the associated vocal technique class and will be placed based on skill/technique level. Competition classes will attend three competitions in the spring.

These classes are involved in the annual recording session, pictures and the year-end recital.

REGISTER

Ballet

All classes are one – two times a week and focus on ballet technique and terminology. From September to December classes work on open house material to be presented to parents at the studio in December. From January to May, class time is spent working on recital material to be performed at the year-end recital. These classes are involved in pictures and the year-end recital.

NOTE: Competitive students are required to a ballet class.

  • Ages 12-18– Split-soled Ballerina Pink Canvas Ballet Shoes
  • Mondor or Capezio Brand Classic Pink Ballet Tights

  • Ages 3-11- Full-soled Black Leather Ballet Shoes
  • Ages 12-18- Split-soled Black Canvas Ballet Shoes

REGISTER

Contemporary

All classes are once a week. Contemporary dance strives to connect the mind and body through fluid dance movement. From September to December classes work on open house material to be presented to parents at the studio in December. Competitive Classes will attend three competitions in the spring season. All classes take part in pictures and the year-end recital. You must be registered in a ballet and lyrical class to be placed in this class.

ATTIRE

  • Bare feet
  • Fitted dance clothes
  • Hair neatly off face

REGISTER

NOTE: All competitive students MUST be registered in mandatory ballet class as well as the corresponding technique/exam class in order to take a competitive class (although students are not required to take the Exam if they choose not to). In order to take competitive contemporary, you must take the associated competitive lyrical class.

Opportunity to be a part of extra competition pieces such as Solos, Duets, Trios and Production are available, however students MUST be registered in the corresponding group class and have regular attendance in all classes in order to be considered. 

Hip Hop

All classes are once a week ranging from 45 minutes to 1 hour in length. These classes focus on Hip Hop technique and terminology with introduction to break dancing, popping and locking. From September to December classes work on open house material to be presented to parents at the studio in December. From January to May, class time is spent working on recital material to be performed at the year-end recital. Competitive Classes will attend three competitions in the spring season. All classes take part in pictures and the year-end recital.

  • Dance pants or sweat pants – no jeans or skirts
  • Hair neatly off face

Jazz

All classes are once a week and range in length of 45 mins to 1.5 hours in length. These classes focus on basic jazz technique and terminology. From September to December classes work on open house material to be presented to parents at the studio in December. From January to May, class time is spent working on recital material to be performed at the year-end recital. Competitive Classes will attend three competitions in the spring season. All classes take part in pictures and the year-end recital.

  • Tan Slip-on Jazz Oxford Shoes (competition students may need black and beige dependent on costume)
  • Fitted dance clothes
  • Hair neatly off face

Jazz/Tap Combo

All classes are once a week and 45 minutes in length, combining instruction in jazz and tap. From September to December classes work on Open House material to be presented to parents at the studio in December.  From January to May class time is spent working on recital material to be performed at the year-end recital. These classes are involved in pictures and the year-end recital.

REGISTER

Lyrical

All classes are once a week and 1 hour to 1.5 hours in length. These classes focus on a lyrical quality with an emphasis on basic Ballet technique and performance. From September to December recital classes work on Open House material to be presented to parents at the Studio theatre in December.  You must have at least one year of ballet and be registered in a ballet class and the associated competitive jazz class to be placed in this class. Competitive Classes will attend three competitions during the spring season. Dancers must be available for all dates.These classes take part in pictures and the year-end recital.

ATTIRE

  • Students may wear foot thongs, but must have proper shoes to suit costume if needed
  • Fitted dance clothes
  • Hair neatly off face

REGISTER

NOTE: All competitive students MUST be registered in mandatory ballet class as well as the corresponding technique/exam class in order to take a competitive class (although students are not required to take the Exam if they choose not to).

Opportunity to be a part of extra competition pieces such as Solos, Duets, Trios and Production are available, however students MUST be registered in the corresponding group class and have regular attendance in all classes in order to be considered. Decisions will be at the discretion of the Studio Director and Dance Coordinator.

Tap

All classes are once a week. Recital classes are 45 minutes in length and competitive classes are 1 hour to 1.5 hours in length. These classes focus on basic tap technique and terminology. From September to December classes work on open house material to be presented to parents at the studio in December. From January to May class time is spent working on recital material to be performed at the year- end recital. These classes take part in pictures and the year-end recital. Competitive classes will attend three competitions in the spring season.

  • Recital classes and Junior Competition Tap – Suntan Cuban Heel Tap Shoes
  • Intermediate and Senior Competition Tap – Black Slip-on Tap Shoes (Competitive students may need beige shoes too depending on costuming)

  • Black Slip-on Tap Shoes
  • Fitted dance clothes

Acrobatic Arts

NEW THIS YEAR!!

We are excited to now be offering an Acrobatic Arts program which integrates technique, strength training and flexibility development with dance, allowing our students to safely develop acrobatic and aerial moves to complement their dance training.

Vocal Technique

Vocal Technique 

As an enhancement to our current program, vocal technique is now being added for all competitive musical theatre classes as well as the Mini Express & The Expressions. Placement will be based on current technical level and is mandatory for all students in these groups.

 

Exams
